Middle Andaman
The Mud Volcano located on Baratang Island is one of the most unusual natural phenomena found in the Andaman Islands. Unlike traditional volcanoes that erupt lava, mud volcanoes release mud, gases, and mineral-rich fluids from beneath the earth’s surface. These formations are created by underground pressure that pushes mud upward through cracks in the ground.
Baratang Island hosts several mud volcano sites, which are considered rare geological features. The surrounding environment consists of dense mangrove forests and tropical landscapes that add to the unique experience of visiting the area.
Visitors often combine a trip to the Mud Volcano with visits to the nearby Limestone Caves, making Baratang Island an exciting destination for those interested in nature and geology.
